Eucalyptus Oil (E. Polybractea) is used for its analgesic properties and is supported by clinical research from Jeane Silva and associates. In the report titled Analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of essential oils of Eucalyptus published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology 89 (2003) 277–283, several strains of Eucalyptus are tested with definitive proof of the analgesic and anti inflammatory properties of Eucalyptol and Cineole, the active ingredients of Eucalyptus Oil. Elmore Oil contains Eucalyptus Polybractea, a botanical strain of Eucalyptus that contains the highest cineole content of any known species.

Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia) is the dominant active in Elmore Oil. In a clinical study conducted by the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) and carried out by by Professor John Finlay-Jones, Dr Prue Hart, Associate Professor Thomas Riley,and Ms Christine Carson Terpinen-4-ol, the main component of the essential oil of Melaleuca alternifolia (TTO), was found to suppress inflammatory mediator production by activated human monocytes.

The formulation of Elmore Oil using the essential oils of Eucalyptus and Tea Tree is based on a unique philosophy known as chiral technology. Much of the work on Chiral Technology for these essential oils was highlighted in a report by Tony Burfield and Sylla Sheppard-Hanger, in which the chiral purity of essential oil components influence the required outcomes, which led to the development of the Triple Maturation blending process by the products founder, Ralph Linford.

In 2007 a pilot study was conducted by Latrobe University in Australia, (McBURNEY, Helen, PhD, B AppSc (Physio), on the effects of Elmore Oil on patients diagnosed with osteo-arthritis. Although 25 people started in the study, only 11 people eventually completed the study but it was clear that there was a preference by most participants to Elmore Oil in terms of pain relief and stiffness that was beyond the minimum clinically important levels.

In 2008/2009 the Elmore Oil Company required a double blind trial in order to secure registration of Elmore Oil in the Philippines. So a trial on 60 patients was commissioned at the VMMC on patients clinically diagnosed with osteo-arthritis – (Dr. Ruth S. Sy. Rheumatologist, Dr. Leticia Lucero-Palma, and Professor Vasilias (Bill)Paspaliaris) to examine the effect of Elmore Oil, (containing Olive Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Eucalyptus Oil and Vanilla), on the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

The trial was listed on the US FDA Clinical Trials Protocol Registration System and was subsequently run under US FDA guidelines. The trial also received ethics approval from the board of the Veterans Memorial Medical Centre in Quezon City, Manila, where the trial was conducted.

In summary, results for Elmore Oil showed an average 33.33% reduction in pain (assessed through VAS scores), a 38.88% average reduction in the number of days of severe joint stiffness and a 73% average reduction in the number of days of poor quality sleep due to pain and discomfort.
